Five of seven people trapped in a flooded cave in central Laos were found alive Wednesday following a week-long rescue operation, according to authorities. Seven Laotian villagers entered the cave in Xaysomboun province on May 20 searching for gold but became trapped when heavy rains triggered flash flooding that blocked their exit. Rescue efforts involve teams from both Laos and Thailand.
