A wave of online mockery swept across Brazil on Wednesday targeting Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, following his departure for the United States and a confusing series of statements in which he proclaimed himself the country’s leader.
Brazilian pop star Anitta jokingly declared herself free of cellulite, while various social media users satirically anointed themselves the “true president” of X (formerly Twitter) and winners of the next lottery, parodying the senator’s assertions.
The 45-year-old lawmaker’s actions have drawn a blend of derision, disbelief, and disapproval domestically, extending even to quarters typically aligned with his political camp.
