A 77-year-old Florida woman has sparked discussion in her community after receiving a license plate with a number combination some consider inappropriate.
Pompano Beach resident Nancy Dello Stritto expressed surprise upon discovering her new license plate number was “SQZ A55”.
“I don’t think a senior who is almost 77 will be driving around with a plate that has that to say,” Dello Stritto told CBS News in Miami, adding: “How could that pass inspection?”
Some neighbors have suggested exchanging the plate, while family members and her sons have advised her to retain it.
She initially mistook the plate for a replacement and did not notice its content until later.
Despite her concerns, Dello Stritto has chosen to keep the plate, stating: “I’m resigned to it; maybe it was destined for it to be on my car.”
“I can handle it if I get a few honks here and there. Actually, being over 70, I might like a few honks.”
State officials confirm that Florida license plates have been produced at a North Florida prison for nearly a century, distributed via state agencies. Broward County offers free exchanges for plates deemed offensive.
