FocalTherics, formerly known as EDAP TMS S.A. (FOCL), announced an agreement with MellingMedical, an SBA‑verified Service‑Disabled Veteran‑Owned Small Business, to expand the reach of its Focal One Robotic High‑Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) system for veterans with prostate cancer.
The partnership will increase Focal One’s availability across federal healthcare providers, enabling veterans and active‑duty military personnel to access this advanced prostate treatment technology within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Department of Defense medical systems.
Prostate cancer remains a significant concern in veteran populations, with diagnoses occurring at nearly twice the rate of the general public. The disease accounts for about 30% of all cancer cases among men in the Veterans Health Administration, underscoring the importance of innovative treatment options.
Through MellingMedical’s VA Federal Supply Schedule, the deal provides veterans with access to incision‑free, radiation‑free robotic focal therapy, offering an effective, minimally invasive treatment pathway.
Chris Melling, Founder and CEO of MellingMedical, stated, “This non‑invasive treatment approach gives patients the possibility of maintaining their quality of life while effectively addressing their condition.”
FOCL shares are currently priced at $4.71, down 0.72%.
