A collaborative expedition led by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution surveyed the Labrador Sea off Newfoundland’s coast to document the remarkable discovery.
Quest represented Shackleton’s last maritime endeavor before his historic Antarctic explorations defined the Heroic Age of exploration in the early 1900s, when mechanical transportation was just beginning to emerge.
