Ford Secures Strategic Memory Supply Agreement with Micron Amid US Automotive Expansion
Ford has entered into a long-term Strategic Customer Agreement with chipmaker Micron, joining General Motors as the second major US automaker to finalize such arrangements. The partnership aims to bolster supply chains for memory and storage components, critical to next-generation vehicles. Micron is increasing production of key automotive memory products and expanding manufacturing capacity to support long-term product lifecycles and industry demands. Ford’s CEOJim Farley emphasized the importance of a resilient supply chain for producing future vehicles in America, applauding Micron’s commitment to domestic manufacturing and workforce development. Micron’s executives also highlighted the sign deal is underpinned by ongoing investments in expanding and localizing supply for automotive customers, including advanced DRAM manufacturing in Manassas, Virginia. The collaboration underscores the evolving relationship between the automotive sector and semiconductor suppliers as demand continues to rise.
