Wycombe Wanderers have officially announced the signing of former England international Danny Ings, who previously represented Burnley and Liverpool during his career.
The 34-year-old forward began the current season unattached, following his stint in the Championship with Sheffield United last year.
However, the managerless League One outfit has now become the eighth club in the Winchester-born forward’s 17-year professional journey.
Ings is eligible to make his debut for the Chairboys during their Saturday fixture against Reading at Adams Park, a venue where the club has yet to secure a victory this season.
Currently sitting 14th in the table, Wycombe parted ways with manager Michael Duff on September 8th, leaving Tom Hounsell to serve as caretaker manager ever since.
Ings, who previously played alongside current Wycombe coach Sam Vokes at Burnley, started his professional career at Bournemouth.
He also enjoyed spells at Liverpool, where he was among Brendan Rodgers’ final summer signings in 2015, before making high-profile transfers to Southampton, Aston Villa, and West Ham United.
The forward also found the net once across his three senior England appearances, netting in a friendly against Wales back in 2020.
“Danny joined up with the squad last Friday,” stated Wycombe director of football strategy and data intelligence Tom Stockwell.
“He has been training with the group ever since, so we are confident he is fit, sharp, and ready to go.”
