Canelo Álvarez aims to reclaim a super‑middleweight title when he faces Christian Mbilli on Saturday night. Ahead of the bout, long‑time Gennadiy Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez has offered his final forecast.

Álvarez accounts for all three setbacks in the 42‑2‑1 record of “Triple G.” He drew once and twice defeated the hard‑hitting Kazakh in their iconic trilogy, moving from middleweight into the super‑middleweight division where he defended his undisputed crown.

After losing his four belts to Terence Crawford, Álvarez will seek to recover one of them this weekend by challenging for Mbilli’s WBC strap.

“Every coach should look at his [Álvarez’s] discipline and work ethic. He may lack the finest technique or footwork, but he’s a relentless, disciplined gym worker – the kind of dedication any coach dreams of.”

Assessing the contest, Sanchez called Mbilli “limited” and expressed confidence in a Canelo victory, while downplaying the impact of Álvarez’s loss to Crawford.

“Mbilli is very limited in what he can do. Canelo has far more tactical options.

“I think Canelo still beats him. He’s still training hard; I haven’t seen him grow old. He gave it his all against Terence [Crawford], and Crawford is a tremendous talent, so that fight will always be tough.

“Against everyone else, he has dominated from the fifth or sixth round onward, so I see Canelo winning.”

The Álvarez‑Mbilli clash is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, airing live on DAZN PPV, with reigning champions Jaime Munguía and Rafael Espinoza also featured on the card.
