Former Sindh minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar reportedly married a woman named Razia Arbab via video call, later discovering that images she shared with him had been altered using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The incident has led to legal proceedings under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Unnar approached a sessions court seeking an FIR against Arbab, alleging she conspired to deceive him by concealing her identity and sharing manipulated images. He claimed their relationship began through social media, culminating in a marriage ceremony where Arbab wore a niqab. After the ceremony, Unnar met Arbab in person and was “shocked to find she had misrepresented her appearance through AI-edited photos.”
The minister alleged Arbab subsequently posted false narratives about his death on social media, sent threatening WhatsApp messages demanding money, and shared fabricated content of his personal videos. These actions, Unnar stated, violated PECA provisions for cyber-bullying and dissemination of false information.
During court proceedings, Arbab was directed to appear before the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh. The judge issued notices to local police authorities and the accused to file responses by August 17, 2026.
