GAZA — Israeli strikes and gunfire killed four people across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, including a woman and a 12-year-old boy, according to civil defense rescue services operating in the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.
The casualties underscore persistent violations of the ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, following two years of conflict triggered by Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Both Israel and Hamas have repeatedly accused one another of breaching the truce.
Mahmoud Bassal, a spokesperson for Gaza’s civil defense agency, told AFP that four people were killed and several others wounded on Thursday.
Bassal said a 12-year-old boy was killed by Israeli gunfire east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Several kilometers away, near the town of Al-Zawayda, two additional people died in separate Israeli strikes. The nearby Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed that all three victims arrived dead.
In southern Gaza, Israeli gunfire killed a woman near Khan Yunis, Bassal added. Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis confirmed her death to AFP.
When contacted by AFP, the Israeli military stated it had struck Hamas terrorists in the Al-Zawayda area and said it was looking into reports regarding the woman’s death in Khan Yunis.
Gaza’s health ministry, which operates under Hamas authority and whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations, reported that Israeli forces have killed more than 1,600 people since the ceasefire was announced one year ago.
