Lecornu to Hold Crucial Meetings with Union Representatives Ahead of Planned Demonstrations

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu will meet with representatives from five major unions—the CFDT, CGT, FO, CFTC, and CFE-CGC—on Wednesday to discuss strategies ensuring safe and lawful public demonstrations, which he emphasized must not be exploited by those engaging in disruptive behavior, as outlined in correspondence sent to the organizations.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez will also participate in the discussions.

New demonstrations organized by the Yellow Vest movement and high school students are scheduled for Saturday, while unions have planned their gatherings for November 5.

The CFDT and CGT expressed disappointment over the exclusion of high school organizations from this meeting, where Lecornu aims to present responses to student demands regarding scheduling, substitute staffing, school renovations, and Parcoursup admissions processes.
