Group of 20 major economies are increasingly worried about the impact of climbing bond yields and heightened foreign exchange volatility on global financial stability, according to Japan’s Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki.

Speaking to reporters following the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting, Suzuki emphasized that participants shared a “strong sense of caution” regarding recent market movements. The discussions highlighted how rapid shifts in long-term interest rates and disorderly currency fluctuations could undermine economic recovery efforts and complicate monetary policy management across member nations.

The minister noted that while each country faces distinct domestic conditions, the forum agreed on the critical importance of maintaining open communication channels and adhering to established exchange rate commitments. Authorities pledged to monitor developments closely and coordinate responses as necessary to mitigate spillover risks to the broader international financial system.
