Gary Glitter, the disgraced former singer whose real name is Paul Gadd, has pleaded not guilty to eight historical sexual offence charges involving a girl aged between eight and 11 years old. The 82-year-old entered his pleas at Southwark Crown Court on September 2, denying four counts of indecent assault against a child under 13, two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 13, and two counts of indecency involving a child under 13. The charges, all related to a single complainant, allege incidents occurred between March 1978 and December 1981 in West London. Prosecutors claim the accused provided the girl with chocolate and invited her to his residence where the alleged offences took place. Judge Tony Baumgartner remanded Gadd in custody and scheduled a three-week trial for November 2027.
The allegations were initially reported to Metropolitan Police in January 2023, leading to Gadd’s interview six months later. He was formally charged in July with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child under 13 and three counts of indecent assault against a child under 14. Gadd previously denied the allegations at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, stating he did not know the complainant. Known for 1970s hits including “Rock and Roll (Parts One and Two)” and “I’m The Leader Of The Gang (I Am)”, Gadd is currently serving a 16-year sentence after a 2015 conviction for sexual offences against three schoolgirls.
