I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with beauty trends—from popsicle lips to double braids and shellac nails—but this latest craze has left me puzzled.
Ghost lashes.
Essentially, ghost lashes involve applying clear mascara or skipping mascara entirely. Beauty editors have embraced the trend: New York Magazine declared it a “no‑mascara summer,” Elle proclaimed it “the latest in lashes,” and Glamour noted that barely‑there lashes are here to stay this fall. Despite having worn mascara daily since age fifteen, I feel oddly exposed when I try to go without it.
My friend Jessie, a fashion enthusiast, laughed and said, “I never wear mascara because every time I do, I end up crying that day.” She considers it bad luck.
The secret to minimal makeup lies in maintaining soft, hydrated skin. I personally rely on a plumping serum and a gentle drugstore face wash recommended by my dermatologist—the cleanser cleans without stripping moisture. I’d love to hear your recommendations as well.
So, what do you think? Will you try ghost lashes, or do you already wear them? Share your thoughts!
