GILGIT: After assuming office on Tuesday, Gilgit‑Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain signed his first order, regularising the status of 89 doctors in the region.
In a notification issued that day, Hussain noted that the doctors’ regularisation had been pending for an extended period.
Speaking in the presence of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, the chief minister stated, “In the presence of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto I have signed the summary and am pleased to regularise the services of 89 doctors.”
He added that the move would strengthen the health sector and hopes the newly regularised组件 doctors will perform their duties with integrity.
The chief minister, alongside PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto‑Zardari, attended a briefing on issues facing Gilgit‑Baltistan.
Attendees discussed the sudden cut in subsidised wheat, which has triggered a serious crisis, and the lack of an international airport, an obstacle to tourism growth.
