GILGIT – Residents of Gilgit took to the streets on Tuesday to protest extended power outages that have persisted for more than six hours amid scorching weather. Demonstrators chanted slogans against authorities and called for reliable electricity and water supplies.

In Jutial, protesters ignited tyres and blocked Quaid‑i‑Azam Road at Public Chowk for several hours, demanding that the government restore uninterrupted power. The prolonged blackouts have also halted water delivery in multiple neighborhoods, worsening living conditions. Protesters accused the Gilgit‑Baltistan administration of failing to meet essential utility needs.

Similar demonstrations occurred in Kundas, Danyore and Amphary. In Kundas, a large group of women gathered at the RCC Bridge and blocked KIU Road, urging officials to address the power crisis promptly and ensure steady electricity and water services in their communities.
