US President Donald Trump spoke for nearly 90 minutes with Russian leader Vladimir Putin by telephone, offering to help the two sides reach a resolution to the ongoing Ukraine war, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said in a statement released on Sunday.
Ushakov added that the conversation, which took place on July 4 during the US Independence Day holiday and ahead of Trump’s participation in next week’s NATO summit in Turkey, underscored Washington’s willingness to work toward a swift end to the fighting.
He described the dialogue as “business‑like and quite constructive,” noting that Russia sought a politically‑diplomatic resolution to the conflict in line with its core interests.

Zelensky Calls for American Resolve After Speaking with Trump

Ukraine Denies Moscow’s Claim of Seizing Kostyantynivka
Ukraine rebuffed Moscow’s claim that Russian forces had captured Kostyantynivka, a strategic eastern Donetsk city deemed vital by Kyiv’s troops.
