Gloucestershire have secured fast bowler Henry Brookes from Middlesex on a three-year contract beginning next season.
The 26-year-old initially joined the Bristol club on loan at the start of the season, but his tenure was cut short due to a hamstring injury.
He will return to Middlesex for the remainder of the season, after which he will officially join Gloucestershire.
The right-arm seamer posted a career-best score of 89, helping Gloucestershire defeat Derbyshire by ten wickets in April.
“It’s been a quiet period for me, but I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch and showing people what I can do,” Brookes told Gloucestershire’s website.external
Head coach Jon Lewis added: “I’ve known Henry for a long time. We toured India together with the England Under-19s back in 2017.”
“He was a high-potential fast bowler back then, and we still see him as a bowler with a huge amount of potential now. We don’t believe he’s anywhere near his ceiling.”
