Goldberg on Why Brock Lesnar Stood Out as His Ultimate Rival
Goldberg and Brock Lesnar have shared the ring on multiple occasions in WWE, with Goldberg declaring Lesnar as his greatest adversary.
During an interview at River City Wrestling Con with Going Ringside, Goldberg reflected on his storied rivalry with Lesnar. The two competed in three high-profile matches, which Goldberg regards as the pinnacle of his career.
“Ultimately, Brock Lesnar was my best opponent because he was like a blonde counterpart of mine—two powerhouse athletes with a monster mentality,” Goldberg shared. “As a former football player, I loved the intensity of two absolute forces colliding. Brock could endure my hits just as well as I could deliver them.”
Goldberg secured two wins in their three encounters, including a victory at WrestleMania XX (2004) with Steve Austin as referee and a second triumph at Survivor Series (2016). While their final clash at WrestleMania 33 (2017) saw Lesnar emerge victorious, Goldberg emphasized his overall dominance.
The WWE legend also discussed the challenges of joining WWE, describing it as an “unwinnable” scenario, yet he commended Triple H for his professionalism and character.
