GUJRAT: Police in Gujrat have filed at least six cases against complainants, victims, and witnesses in boys’ rape cases for withdrawing or altering their statements before the court.
All cases have been lodged with Kakrali police station in Kharian tehsil of Gujrat district within a single day.
According to official sources, cases were registered against the complainants, victims, and witnesses following a written complaint by the public prosecution. The deputy director of public prosecution referred the matter to the Gujrat district police officer (DPO), who then directed the concerned police station to take action.
Sources indicate that at least 13 individuals, primarily fathers of the victims and some witnesses, have been named as accused in these cases. In one instance, the mother of a victim has also been listed among the accused persons.
The cases have been registered under Section 213 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 22(b) of the Anti-Terrorism (Investigation and Trial) Act 2001, based on a report submitted by ASI Imtiaz Ahmed of Kharian Saddar police station.
Police sources state that no arrests have been made so far as the investigation is still ongoing.
It is understood that the original rape cases under Sections 375A and 376III of PPC were registered against various suspects by Kakrali police in the previous months of 2025.
The current cases were filed against the complainants, victims, and witnesses for providing statements in favor of the accused after reconciling with them.
This follows a pattern observed earlier in 2025, when Gujrat police had registered over a dozen cases in different police stations against complainants in rape cases for retracting their statements.
