Gurnoor Brar’s exceptional bowling performance, claiming six wickets in the second innings and four in the first, powered India A to a commanding ten-wicket victory over Sri Lanka A in the second unofficial Test in Galle, securing the two-match series 1-0. Trailing by 177 runs in their second innings, Sri Lanka A collapsed to 209 all out, with Brar’s 10-wicket haul (10 for 145) becoming the standout achievement of his fledgling first-class career. Earlier, B Sai Sudharsan’s 168, supported by half-centuries from Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Saransh Jain, propelled India A to 543 for 9 in their first innings before declaring.
Sri Lanka A’s second innings began poorly, slumping to 49 for 4 by the 11th over, with Brar and Aaqib Nabi each claiming two wickets early. Captain Sahan Arachchige, who scored a century in the first innings, was among the early casualties. Ashen Bandara provided a brief spark with a brisk 87 off 86 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes, but his dismissal by Brar triggered a collapse. Contributions from Anjala Bandara (17) and lower-order batters Nuwantha (26) and Dilum Sudeera (21) narrowed the deficit, but Brar’s five-wicket haul and a late breakthrough by Jain sealed the innings. Sai Sudharsan and Aman Mokhade then completed the chase in 6.2 overs, adding to India A’s earlier triumph in the 50-overs tri-series against Afghanistan A.
