Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton edged out Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli to secure a sensational pole position for the sprint race at the British Grand Prix.

The nine-time winner at his home circuit snatched the top spot from the championship leader by a mere 0.011 seconds.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen qualified third, trailing the pace by 0.321 seconds.

Mercedes’ George Russell, sitting 40 points behind Antonelli in the standings, could only manage a disappointing fifth place behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Reigning world champion and last year’s British Grand Prix victor Lando Norris of McLaren qualified sixth, ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri.

Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar and the Racing Bulls duo of Liam Lawson and British rookie Arvid Lindblad rounded out the top ten.
