New Giants coach John Harbaugh offered a piece of advice to running back Cam Skattebo after the second‑year back went viral for mishandling a backflip during an appearance at Fanatics Fest.
“Dude, at least stick it. You know what I mean?” Harbaugh quipped on the “Bleav in Giants” podcast. “Land the thing if you’re gonna do it.”
The clip, taken from the Saturday event, prompted concern from Giants fans, as Skattebo is still recovering from surgery to repair a right ankle dislocation. He later confirmed he was “perfectly fine” and attributed the tumble to the “bouncy” floors.
Despite the serious ankle injury last October, Skattebo has progressed significantly, returning to practice in the spring under an agreement that no backflips would be attempted. He surprised everyone by performing a backflip after hitting a home run at the Brian Burns Celebrity Softball Game in May.
Harbaugh noted how the running back has been working intensely: “I did mention maybe no back flips out here [at minicamp]. We agreed.”
Skattebo had an electric start to his NFL careereca, recording 617 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns before the injury curtailed his season. The coach remains confident that the player will be ready for training camp next month, saying, “[Skattebo] is gonna be ready to go. He’s been Providing nerly working hard, he’s really training like crazy, and his mind is on camp.”
