Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has received an official reprimand and a 20% fine of his match fee after admitting to a Level 1 violation of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ODI tri-series match against England in Lahore on Sunday, October 27, 2026.

The International Cricket Council announced in a statement released on October 28, 2026, that Rauf was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses actions against the spirit of the game. A single demerit point was added to his disciplinary history, marking his third offense within a 24-month period and bringing his total to five demerit points.

The incident took place at the conclusion of the 46th over of Pakistan’s innings. Standing at the non-striker’s end, Rauf contested a wide call and entered into a heated argument with England all-rounder Will Jacks. He gestured with his bat and continued confronting Jacks despite intervention and a warning from on-field umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid.

Rauf then pushed past the umpire and moved toward Jacks, an action that formed the basis of the formal charge. The complaint was filed by umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Wayne Knights, and fourth official Nassir Hussain. Rauf accepted the penalty recommended by match referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, avoiding a formal hearing.

England’s Over-Rate Violation

In addition to Rauf’s sanctions, England was also penalized following the same match. The visiting team was fined 15% of their match fee for falling three overs short of the required quota after applying all permitted time allowances. Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct governing minimum over-rate breaches, teams failing to complete their full overs allocation face a 5% fine per over missed.

England captain Harry Brook acknowledged the infraction on his team’s behalf and accepted the proposed sanction from Jeff Crowe, eliminating the need for a formal disciplinary process.

Match Outcome and Pakistan’s Path Forward

The penalties followed an exciting ODI victory for Pakistan by one wicket. Shadab Khan’s unbeaten century, combined with an unbroken 89-run partnership with Rauf for the final wicket, helped Pakistan surpass their target with 17 balls to spare. England’s bowlers struggled to break their defense as the hosts mounted a stunning comeback in the final stages.

With this win, Pakistan advanced to the ODI tri-series final, where they are set to meet Sri Lanka on October 31, 2026.
