Hollywood Mourns Tim Curry: Stars Pay Tribute to a Legendary Talent

Tributes are pouring in for the legendary actor Tim Curry, who passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 80. Known for his magnetic presence and unparalleled versatility, Curry left an indelible mark on stage and screen, celebrated by colleagues and fans worldwide.

Best known for his iconic roles—most notably Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the witty butler Wadsworth in Clue, and the scheming Rooster in Annie—Curry was fondly remembered by his former co-stars as a true force of nature.

Comedian Rob Schneider, who worked with Curry in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, expressed his grief on social media. “The sensational character actor, Tim Curry has left the stage,” Schneider wrote. “A truly gifted performer of stage and screen, his one eyebrow could say more than most actors’ entire bodies. I am grateful to have the rare gift of watching him work; he made you better just standing near him.”

Carol Burnett also shared her memories, posting a clip from their time on Annie. She wrote that “nobody could play lovable villains better than he could. He was a dear friend. I was blessed to know him.”

Co-star Michael McKean, who shared the screen with Curry in Clue, reflected on their recent conversations, noting they were “about life and love and laughter.” Recalling the stroke Curry suffered in 2012, McKean added that the “grim physical state he found himself in has now ended, a blessing. Our blessing was that we had Tim Curry in our lives. RIP, my friend.”

Luke Evans, who recently concluded a seven-month run playing Curry’s iconic role of Frank-N-Furter in the Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, shared a heartfelt letter he had written to Curry just weeks prior. In the note, Evans described Curry as “a force, a bright fierce flame, an exquisite charm,” thanking him for his fearlessness and for “creating something so enduring, and for inspiring generations of actors to be a little braver than they thought they could be.”

Even those who never worked directly with him felt his profound influence. Comedian Jillian Bell, who cited Curry as the inspiration for her own acting career, shared her devastation. “This one hits way too hard,” she wrote. “What an amazing career he had — one that gave us iconic characters to look up to, to fear, to laugh with, to sing with… He will live on through every role.” Bell also recalled meeting Curry once, describing him as “just as sweet and cheeky as I had hoped.”
