Hong Kong presents itself as a prime platform for Uzbek enterprises seeking to expand globally, thanks to its world‑class professional services and dynamic international business environment, Chief Executive John Lee told Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov during a comprehensive five‑day regional visit.
Lee also extended an invitation for Aripov to deliver a keynote address at Hong Kong’s upcoming Belt and Road Summit, scheduled for September.
During the meeting with a 70‑member delegation led by Lee, Aripov outlined numerous joint initiatives, assigning ministers to pursue them further.
Delegation members, including mainland Chinese and Hong Kong business leaders, expressed strong enthusiasm for the proposals.
Peter Lee Ka-kit, co‑chairman and managing director of Henderson Land Development, highlighted that both Henderson and the Hong Kong & China Gas Company (Towngas), of which he is also co‑chair, are keen to broaden their commercial operations in Uzbekistan.
Lee acknowledged Uzbekistan’s proactive economic reforms and emphasized Hong Kong’s potential to serve as an essential hub, given its robust rule‑of‑law framework, transparent regulatory regime, and open market.
