During the 2010s, the Florida Panthers enjoyed increased postseason success, a decade defined by the arrival of legendary icons and the emergence of new stars. This analysis assembles the Panthers’ All-Decade Team for the 2010s, selecting a lineup based on the single most impactful statistical season for each position.
This serves as the third installment in a four-part series examining the Panthers’ greatest eras. We aim to determine which decade was the most prolific offensively and which squad would have been the most dominant in the league. The team is composed of one skater at each position, chosen for their peak point-producing season during the decade, alongside the goaltender with the most impressive single-year performance.
Forwards
Jonathan Huberdeau
The left wing selection honors a player who, while still developing toward his ultimate peak, delivered a stellar performance during this decade. His 2018-19 campaign established Huberdeau as an elite playmaker and scorer. Over 82 games, he recorded 30 goals and 62 assists for a 92-point season, adding 40 penalty minutes and a -14 rating.
Despite missing the playoffs in 2019, his regular season was exceptional, yielding the fourth-highest single-season assist total in franchise history.
Aleksander Barkov
The center position is claimed by Finnish superstar and team captain Aleksander Barkov, specifically for his 2018-19 season. Barkov appeared in 82 games, tallying 35 goals and 61 assists for 96 points, finishing with a -3 rating and eight penalty minutes. His excellence was recognized league-wide: he won the Lady Byng Trophy, finished fifth in Selke Trophy voting, and placed 16th in Hart Trophy voting—the sixth-highest total among all centers that year.
Jaromir Jagr
While options for the right wing role were limited, the honor goes to an NHL legend who provided a brilliant late-career chapter in Florida. Jaromir Jagr’s selection stems from a season where he played 79 games, recording 27 goals and 39 assists for 66 points, a +23 rating, and 48 penalty minutes.
At age 43, Jagr’s individual accolades were remarkable, finishing 10th in Lady Byng voting, 7th in Hart Trophy voting, and 35th in Selke Trophy voting. His presence helped lead the Panthers to the postseason, where he recorded two assists in a six-game series.
Defensemen
Keith Yandle
The left-handed defenseman role goes to Keith Yandle, a vital offensive contributor for the 2018-19 Panthers. Playing all 82 games, Yandle recorded nine goals and 53 assists for 62 points. This performance stands as the second-highest point total and second-highest assist total ever recorded by a Panthers defenseman.
During that campaign, he contributed 39 power-play points (including seven goals) and 50 penalty minutes, earning an All-Star selection in the process. His historic statistical output makes him an undeniable choice for this roster.
Aaron Ekblad
The right-handed defenseman slot is awarded to Aaron Ekblad for his standout 2017-18 season. Ekblad played 82 games and tallied 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points.
His 16 goals tied the franchise record for most goals in a single season by a defenseman. Finishing the year at +9 with 71 penalty minutes, Ekblad’s record-setting performance secures his place on this decade’s elite list.
Goaltender
Roberto Luongo
The goaltending honors return to a familiar name from the 2000s iteration of this list. Roberto Luongo’s 2015-16 season is his most deserving campaign of the decade. In 62 games, Luongo posted 35 wins against 19 losses, maintaining a .922 save percentage and a 2.35 goals-against average. His season included four shutouts, an All-Star appearance, a fourth-place finish in Lady Byng voting, and 15th in Hart Trophy voting.
Luongo also contributed two assists during this period and was instrumental in guiding the Panthers to the playoffs, where he maintained a 2.05 GAA and .934 SV% over six games. It remains one of the most impressive goaltending seasons in franchise history.
Honorable Mentions
Several other exceptional seasons narrowly missed inclusion. In an alternative lineup, players such as Jason Garrison, Jonathan Marchessault, and Tomas Vokoun would have been strong contenders.
