Hormuz Ship Crossings Remain in Single Digits, Latest Data Reveal

SINGAPORE, Aug 21 (Reuters) – Ship crossings at the Strait of Hormuz chokepoint fell to single‑digit levels on Thursday, according to initial shipping data, as concerns over Middle East risks intensify and US‑Iran peace talks remain stalled.

Thursday recorded only seven commodity vessels, half the number seen on Wednesday, Kpler data indicated. Four vessels entered the waterway while three exited; the passage, used by nearly one‑fifth of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, saw no very‑large crude carriers or LNG tankers.

Nonetheless, a very large gas carrier transporting propane and butane passed out of Hormuz via the Iranian route, the data showed.
