Houston Texans’ star wide receiver Nico Collins participated in a limited capacity during Wednesday’s practice due to a hamstring injury, as reported in the team’s weekly injury report.
While his presence in practice offers hope for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati at home, hamstring injuries can vary in severity, potentially sidelining players for multiple weeks.
Collins previously missed five games in 2024 after sustaining a hamstring injury in a matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Collins’ ability to play will likely hinge on his participation in Thursday’s practice, which is the team’s most intense session of the week. Historically, players who skip this session typically miss Sunday’s game.
In his last game before the current injury, Collins recorded seven receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Bills. He has been the Texans’ most reliable and dynamic offensive weapon when available.
However, Collins has struggled with injuries throughout his career, missing games in each season since entering the league as a rookie.
Other players on the team’s injury report include linebacker Jake Hummel, who is dealing with a groin injury and did not practice at all; edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney has a knee injury and missed practice, though head coach DeMeco Ryans indicated he will return Thursday.
Edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. and tight end Dalton Schultz were scheduled for rest days.
For Cincinnati, quarterback Joe Burrow was limited in practice with a back injury.
