HRESORTING MALAYSIA’S MH370 SEARCH INTO ITS NEXT YEAR
The Malaysian government has officially renewed its agreement with Ocean Infinity for another 12 months to continue the deep-sea search for the missing MH370 aircraft.
This extended commitment reflects ongoing efforts to locate the wreckage that vanished on March 8, 2014, after a failed multinational search. The Cabinet approved the extension, emphasizing the government’s dedication to providing closure for the families of the victims.
Ocean Infinity, based in the United States and the United Kingdom, has set financial terms including a $70 million payment if any debris is recovered. The company plans to redeploy its assets between November and April next year to focus on this crucial mission.
Malaysian officials highlighted the significance of this agreement, stating that the renewed search will continue at a newly designated area spanning 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean.
The search remains a high-priority initiative as the timeline for recovery nears, with increased readiness of vessels between the end of this year and early next year.
