NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has imaged nebula N44 in the Large Magellanic Cloud, revealing a vast central void— a superbubble spanning roughly 210 by 140 light-years— encircled by dense, dusty gas. The brilliant stars at the void’s center sculpted this cavity through powerful stellar winds and explosive supernovae, clearing away much of the gaseous cradle from which they formed.
