HUBCO intends to begin local assembly of BYD vehicles in Pakistan in December 2026, with the Sealion 6 plug‑in hybrid as the first model. The company’s BYD operations have cumulatively sold over 10,000 vehicles in the country.
The venture generated roughly Rs1.5 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, of which Rs780 million was attributable to HUBCO, per the report. HUBCO is evaluating additional models, particularly in the B and C segments, with the Sealion 6, B8 and B5 slated for launch toward the end of 2026.
A new plant being built near Karachi by BYD and Mega Motor Company—an affiliate of HUBCO—is planned to start with an annual capacity of 25,000 vehicles, expandable to 50,000. Local assembly will transition the operation from imported units to domestic production, and HUBCO has expressed interest in developing EV charging infrastructure.
