Hull KR (10) 22
Tries: Burgess, Hiku, Whitbread, Leyland Goals: Martin 3
Leigh (4) 8
Tries: Alick-Wiencke, Hodgson
Hull KR demonstrated resilience to claim a well-deserved victory over Leigh Leopards in a tightly contested Betfred Super League match. Joe Burgess opened the scoring with his 17th try of the season, and Peta Hiku’s try extended the hosts’ lead to 10-4 at halftime. Jacob Alick-Wiencke responded for Leigh before the break, but the Robins maintained control in the second half.
The home side suffered an early setback in the second half when Burgess left the field with a suspected shoulder injury. Despite this, Jai Whitbread and Bill Leyland added tries to secure the win, rendering Bailey Hodgson’s late touchdown inconsequential.
The result lifts Hull KR to within two points of second-placed Warrington, while Leigh remain in seventh position after three consecutive wins prior to this defeat.
