A human rights organization has petitioned the U.S. Department of Justice to arrest and prosecute an Israeli military official allegedly involved in the 2024 killing of 5-year-old Hind Rajab in the Gaza Strip, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.
The Brussels-based Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) identified the individual as Sean Glass, who it claims is currently residing in the United States. According to the foundation, Glass led the “Vampire Empire” Company within the 52nd Armored Battalion, part of the 401st Armored Brigade.
“Our investigation places him and his unit at the scene of the attack on Hind’s vehicle,” the HRF said in a statement released on Monday. “Yet today, Glass remains free in the United States.”
The foundation has accused Glass of committing war crimes and acts of genocide under U.S. law, specifically alleging that he likely issued orders to fire upon the vehicle carrying Hind and her family.
“This case is backed by compelling and substantial evidence,” said Natacha Bracq, Head of Litigation at HRF. “We urge the U.S. Department of Justice to initiate a formal investigation without delay.”
Support for the appeal came from U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat, who echoed the call on social media.
“As a signatory to the Genocide Convention and the Geneva Conventions, the United States is obligated to detain and investigate him for these serious violations,” she wrote online.
At this time, the U.S. Justice Department has not provided any official comment in response to requests for clarification.
Hind Rajab was killed on January 29, 2024, when the car transporting her and several relatives came under Israeli military fire. Trapped amid the aftermath, she reached out to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for emergency assistance.
Two PRCS paramedics dispatched to rescue her — Yusuf Zeino and Ahmed al-Madhoun — were also killed. The bodies of Hind and the medics were discovered 12 days later.
A forensic analysis conducted by the London-based research collective Forensic Architecture revealed that 335 bullets struck the vehicle, with no indication of any retaliatory gunfire from those inside.
