Chinese chipmaker Hygon Information Technology is preparing to launch a new processor for physical-world applications, extending its presence beyond data-centre computing into robotics and other edge technologies, according to Chinese media reports and company materials.
The Tuesday launch introduces a new member of Hygon’s CPU1000 series, designed for “low-power, embedded and edge computing requirements.” The chip is aimed at physical AI applications in robotics, machine vision and intelligent manufacturing.
Hygon promoted the event, scheduled for Tuesday in Shenzhen, the southern technology hub, under the slogan “Let computing power reach the physical world.” The company announced the event on its official WeChat account on Sunday but did not provide further details.
