The IDF demolished a 200‑meter Hezbollah tunnel in southern Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Sunday evening.
Situated near Majdal Zoun, the tunnel extended more than 25 meters underground and housed hundreds of weapons along with several launch shafts aimed at Israel, according to the officials’ statement.
The IDF said the operation was conducted by troops from the 551st Brigade working alongside Yahalom Combat Engineers.
Although the 551st Brigade had seized the tunnel complex in June, aerial strikes proved ineffective, forcing ground forces to enter and destroy it from inside.
During the assault, 20 Hezbollah fighters—including ten from the elite Radwan Unit—were killed, and roughly fifty pieces of militant equipment such as drones, anti‑tank missiles and assorted weapons were captured and destroyed.
Netanyahu and Katz added that the United States had been notified beforehand of the demolition.
