The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the elimination of Ali Musa Daqduq, a senior Hezbollah commander directly linked to the 2007 kidnapping and murder of five U.S. military personnel.
The IDF executed a targeted strike in southern Lebanon on Friday, located south of the Litani River, where Daqduq was previously deployed. Military sources stated his death is part of ongoing operations against Hezbollah leadership responsible for cross-border attacks on Israel and allied forces.
DAQDUQ’S MULTIPLE ROLES: According to IDF filings, he served as commander of the security unit under slain leader Hassan Nasrallah. Additional positions included head of Hezbollah’s “Golan Terrorist Network,” responsible for military infrastructure along Israel’s border following its 2019 exposure of the group’s activities.
“Daqduq’s elimination marks a decisive reduction in Hezbollah’s operational capacity, particularly in launching coordinated attacks against civilian and military targets,” the IDF stated in a formal release.
The strike follows similar actions against other Hezbollah commanders in October, which neutralized 400+ reported terrorist strikes against Israel. Additionally, the IDF announced separate operations in Beirut targeting infrastructure linked to the group.
DAQDUQ’S HISTORY: Caught by U.S. troops in Iraq during his 2007 role in the attack, Daqduq was later released by Iraqi authorities after charges were dropped. His return to Hezbollah operations underscores his sustained involvement in hostile activities against Israel.
