New Delhi, Oct 31: India have revised their squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, summoning pacer Auqib Nabi for the opening three fixtures after Prasidh Krishna was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Krishna has been withdrawn from the five-match series, prompting the BCCI to accelerate Nabi’s inclusion. The Jammu and Kashmir quick was initially selected only for the final two ODIs but will now link up with the squad ahead of the series opener in Auckland on November 4.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that Nabi will join the national setup from the outset of the tour.
The 29-year-old strengthened his case with a standout showing for India A against New Zealand A in Lincoln, collecting six wickets across the four-day contest. That performance earned him a maiden senior call-up.
Nabi debuted in ODIs against the West Indies in Guwahati last month, though the outing proved difficult — he conceded 84 runs in 8.5 overs. India nevertheless secured a comfortable victory while chasing a 400-plus target, powered by captain Shubman Gill’s double century.
