The Indian cricket team is preparing to shift its focus toward the second Test against Sri Lanka, holding a 1-0 advantage in the series following a commanding 165-run victory in the opening match at Galle. As the team travels to Colombo, the visitors will aim to secure a series win and build momentum.
The second Test is slated to commence on August 23 at the historic Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), a venue deeply embedded in the legacy of Sri Lankan cricket. During the team’s preparations, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja engaged in a lighthearted and amusing exchange with a journalist, which has since captured widespread attention.
Ravindra Jadeja’s cheeky banter with journalist goes viral
The amusing interaction occurred as Jadeja made his way to the practice area, carrying his kit bag and dressed in India’s training gear. He noticed a journalist who had previously drawn a comparison between the SSC and the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Amused by the analogy, Jadeja playfully questioned the journalist about his choice of words as he walked past.
With a mischievous grin, Jadeja queried, “Kya bolta hai? Lord’s kaha jaata hai kya isko?” (What are you saying? Where is Lord’s supposed to be here?), leaving those around him amused.
The Sinhalese Sports Club is frequently referred to as the ‘Lord’s of Sri Lanka’ due to its immense historical significance to the nation’s cricket. Serving as the headquarters for Sri Lanka Cricket, the prestigious venue has hosted numerous key domestic and international fixtures over the decades.

Jadeja looks to make bigger impact in Colombo Test
India will enter the second Test brimming with confidence following their comprehensive victory in Galle. The visitors are eager to complete a series sweep, while the hosts will need to mount a strong response to level the contest. Jadeja, however, experienced a mixed outing in the first match, claiming three wickets in the hosts’ first innings before finishing with figures of 1/71 from 23 overs in the second.
The veteran all-rounder also faced challenges with the bat, scoring 13 runs in the first innings and just nine in the second, while Manav Suthar secured a 10-wicket haul. Overall, Jadeja concluded the match with 22 runs and four wickets. As India aims to accumulate more World Test Championship (WTC) points, the star all-rounder will be expected to deliver a more impactful performance with both bat and ball in Colombo.
