India’s men’s cricket team head coach VVS Laxman has requested additional bowling support for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, with the BCCI planning to send three net bowlers to Japan to assist the squad during training sessions.
Mayank Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, and Mohsin Khan are set to join the main squad in Japan for the Asian Games. While not part of the official 15-member playing roster, the three fast bowlers will travel with the team to provide specialized net practice ahead of India’s campaign.
Reports indicate the BCCI has already applied for Japanese visas for the trio. Their selection is based on their experience and ability to deliver quality pace-bowling practice. Mayank Yadav, known for hisexpress pace with Lucknow Super Giants, and Kartik Tyagi, a promising prospect, join left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, adding variety to the group.
The bowlers are expected to stay with the Indian contingent only until the men’s team’s first match, pending visa approvals. India will begin their Asian Games campaign on September 28, entering the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.
Laxman’s appointment for the tournament coincides with regular head coach Gautam Gambhir remaining with the senior team for India’s home series against the West Indies. Laxman previously led India’s men’s team to a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
