Indian stocks are likely to begin Wednesday on a weaker note as investors await the final results of the U.S. midterm elections. At 7:51 a.m. IST, the GIFT Nifty futures were quoted at 23,711, suggesting a lower opening for the Nifty 50, which closed Tuesday at 23,810.85. Both the Nifty 50 and the BSE Sensex have risen roughly 5 % over the past four sessions, marking their highest levels in two months.
Market participants are closely watching how the election outcome could affect geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, energy costs, AI data‑center investment, and U.S. government finances. On Tuesday, foreign investors purchased Indian equities worth 68.37 billion rupees ($721.66 million) and were net buyers in five of the last six sessions. Brent crude was trading near $103 per barrel. The recent rally in Indian equities has also been supported by strong corporate earnings, easing oil prices, and early signs of increased foreign inflows.
