India secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20I at Harare Sports Club, ending a seven-match winless streak. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi etched his name in history by becoming the youngest Indian to score a T20I half-century, achieving this feat in just 19 balls.
Chasing 126, Zimbabwe collapsed early as Mayank Yadav dismissed Brian Bennett for a golden duck with his first ball. Mayank and Prince Yadav restricted the hosts to 125/7, with Ravi Bishnoi and Shivam Dube each taking one wicket. Vaibhav dismantled Zimbabwe’s chase with a blistering 50 off 19 balls, featuring four sixes and four boundaries, before Richard Ngarava dismissed him.
Vaibhav’s explosive knock, partnered by Ishan Kishan (35 off 24), and supported by an unbeaten 28 from Shreyas Iyer, sealed the win. This marks India’s first T20I victory under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy. Mayank Yadav was awarded Player of the Match for his sharp bowling and wicket-taking exploits.
