India’s Spin Duo Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy Injured, Ruled Out of Remaining T20Is vs England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has assessed the hamstring injuries sustained by Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge and ruled them out of the remaining matches in the series, including the fourth and fifth T20Is scheduled in Bristol on Thursday.

Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar have been named as replacements for Rana and Varun in the fourth T20I lineup.

The loss of the two spinners represents a major setback for India, who are now aiming to avoid a second consecutive T20I series defeat. It remains unclear if Rana will recover in time to join the squad for the subsequent three-match ODI series against England.

Both players have faced recurring injury challenges recently. Rana was absent from the T20 World Cup and IPL 2026 following knee surgery, while Varun suffered a foot injury during the IPL 2026 season. After concluding his Kolkata Knight Riders campaign, Varun underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and missed India’s 2-0 T20I series loss to Ireland. Rana had returned for the Ireland series but now faces another recovery process.
