An animal rescue operation was launched after an injured juvenile crocodile was discovered inside a residential building in Hong Kong.
Police were alerted around 1:00 PM on Wednesday after a member of the public reported seeing the reptile at a residential block located on Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po. Authorities immediately contacted the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to handle the situation.
The animal was later identified as a juvenile hybrid, crossing a Siamese crocodile with a saltwater crocodile.
SPCA personnel arrived on the scene equipped with specialized rescue gear, locating the approximately one-meter-long crocodile hiding under clutter on a platform connected to one of the flats. Using a snare pole and a long net, the team successfully captured the reptile, which appeared to have a leg injury.
According to police sources, a 66-year-old resident reported hearing unusual noises coming from a balcony around 9:00 PM on Tuesday but did not investigate at the time. He discovered the green reptile in the area the following morning around 11:00 AM.
