Intelligence-Led Raid in Bannu Subdistrict Results in Four Militant Fatalities

BANNU: Four suspected militants were eliminated during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Bannu’s Wazir subdivision on Thursday, according to security sources.

The cumulative toll of the ongoing security operations in the area has now reached 48 killed suspects, officials confirmed.

In a separate but coordinated effort, five individuals were apprehended during a joint raid conducted in the rugged Talgai area of the same subdistrict, police reported.

The operation was executed on the basis of specific, actionable intelligence and was supervised by District Police Officer Muhammad Furqan Bilal.

Enforcement personnel from the Bannu police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Rapid Response Force (RRF), and other specialized law enforcement units actively participated in the sweep. The operation was monitored by CTD SP Fazal Waheed Khan and SP Rural Asad Ali Shah.

Security officials reported that two alleged militant hideouts were razed during the operation. Five detained suspects have been transported to an undisclosed facility for further questioning.

A cache of weapons was recovered from the site, including two Kalashnikovs, one rifle, a substantial quantity of ammunition, and other tactical gear.

A firefight broke out during the operation, resulting in minor injuries to Basiakhel Police Station SHO Inspector Rashid Khan and constable Wajid Khan. Both personnel were promptly transferred to a medical facility, where police confirmed they are in stable condition.

District Police Officer Muhammad Furqan Bilal stated that search and clearance operations remain ongoing in the region to ensure the complete neutralization of the terrorist threat.

Internet services, which had been suspended across the city as a security measure during the operation, have now been partially restored. Officials added that mobile phone services are expected to be resumed shortly.

In a separate development, members of the local business community organized a protest outside the Bannu Press Club, calling for the immediate restoration of both mobile and internet connectivity.

Member of the KP Bar Council, Advocate Shah Hussain, stated that lawyers across Bannu have passed a resolution demanding an urgent restoration of communication services, citing significant hardships caused by the prolonged suspension.
