Jeremy Scahill, co‑founder of Drop Site News, argues that prospects for advancing negotiations between Iran and the United States are extremely limited.
He warns that recent Israeli military actions in Lebanon, coupled with President Donald Trump’s inability to curb those actions, could undermine any ongoing diplomatic efforts.
In an interview with host Steve Clemons, Scahill emphasized that moving from a memorandum of understanding to a comprehensive agreement that would end U.S.–Israel hostilities toward Iran appears “very, very slim.”
Scahill added that the White House’s failure to compel Israel to honor the minimal terms of the Trump‑brokered Gaza ceasefire in October 2025 has further eroded Iranian confidence in the talks.
