On Wednesday, Iranian forces attacked a key installation in Kuwait, triggering multiple large explosions and igniting a fire, according to the Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Kuwait’s KUNA state news agency reported later that same day that the fire had been extinguished.
Six response teams, comprising personnel from the army and the National Guard, arrived at the site; no casualties were reported and the damage was confined to property.
In a related development, Iranian officials said they had employed drones to strike United States military positions at the Azraq base in Jordan.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper issued a statement on Wednesday morning via CENTCOM’s X (formerly Twitter) account, condemning recent Iranian attacks on seven commercial vessels.
The statement noted that, over the previous week, Iran deliberately targeted civilians in the region by striking seven merchant ships, resulting in the deaths, disappearances, or injuries of nearly a dozen crew members.
Admiral Cooper concluded by asserting that U.S. forces will hold Iran responsible for the unjustified aggression that continues to jeopardize innocent lives.
