A provincial police commander was killed Friday in a roadside bombing in southeastern Iran, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
The attack occurred near Zahedan, the capital of Sistan-Baluchistan province, a restive region bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan that serves as a major drug-trafficking corridor. The area has long witnessed frequent clashes between Iranian security forces and armed groups, including Sunni militants and separatist factions.
