TEHRAN — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Wednesday that its naval forces intercepted and seized three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state media reports.
The IRGC Navy stated that the vessels were “struck and brought to a halt” after disregarding warnings and continuing along what it described as an “unsafe and illegal route,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. The action comes amid a relative de-escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington.
