The International Race of Champions (IROC) will feature a support event during IndyCar’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix weekend in Washington, D.C.
On Saturday, August 22, the Ray Evernham‑directed series will showcase classic IROC vehicles as part of an exhibition that highlights legends from both NASCAR and IndyCar.
Former NASCAR Cup champions Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte, Rusty Wallace, and Bill Elliott will compete on the 1.7‑mile street circuit, joined by former Indy 500 winners Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, and Dario Franchitti.

IROC first held its championship season in 1974 and continued annually until 2006.

Featuring current INDYCAR stars alongside former NASCAR and INDYCAR champions, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix will celebrate the past and present of racing at one of the world’s most iconic venues.”
The circuit will navigate the heart of Washington, D.C., weaving around the National Mall and a 0.4‑mile stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue, allowing drivers to pass the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Archives.
